Experienced Criminal Defense Attorney for Bartlett Criminal Cases
Bartlett is a Village that is located approximately 3 miles west of Chicago. Parts of the Village of Bartlett are located in Cook County, DuPage County, and Kane County. The population of Bartlett is over 41,000 people.
Bartlett was originally a camping and hunting ground for many different Indian tribes. Luther Bartlett came to Illinois from Massachusetts in 1843. In 1844 Bartlett purchased a 320-acre farm, in what is now Bartlett, as a source of lumber for construction and to burn for fires. He started the Bartlett Manufacturing Company which produced patent neck yokes. The company brought many jobs to the area but collapsed in 1878 during an economic depression. In the early 1870's, the Chicago and Pacific Railroad began building a railroad from Chicago to Elgin. In 1873, Luther Bartlett and his wife donated half of their 40 acres of land for the establishment of a train depot. The anticipated location of the train depot was named Bartlett to commemorate the donation of his land.
The Village of Bartlett was incorporated in 1891. What started off as a train depot has grown from a population of 360 in 1990, to 3,501 in 1970, to more than 41,000 in 2010. The Village of Bartlett covers more than 16 square miles. The rapid growth over the past 40 years is due, in most part, to the rapid development along Route 59. Numerous shopping centers have been developed along Route 59 bringing with it many restaurants and many jobs. The Village's economic base has been expanded with the development of three large Industrial Parks inside the Village. Meanwhile, the downtown area maintains its picturesque and small town historic charm.
